ABOUT US

A beautiful island campground, thickly forested with spruce, fir, and birch, was created over 60 years ago, on Sunshine Island in Maine.

Until the 90’s, it was open to the public, but then sat, alone, for 20 years, waiting for someone to revive it and bring it back to the world.

After opening on July 1st 2020, the land is finally back to sharing all of her beauty and spirit with the people with a new life and a new name, Four Acre Woods.

This is a very special place. I've camped many places and this is one of my favorites. About an hour from Acadia and 20 min to a small town called Stonington, where there are places to eat and waterfront views. We rented the kayaks for the day from Caleb and had an amazing day 🙂

Very quiet and relaxing. The owner/manager is very friendly and accommodating to guests. We would stay there again in a heartbeat. Highly recommended place for folks that love the woods!

My friend and pup and I loved Four Acre Woods! Such a magical, pristine setting. The sites are close together but feel private because of the way they are laid out. The bath house was super clean and we very much appreciated having hot water for showers! Caleb, the host, was helpful and laid back. I felt safe and serene here and would definitely stay again 🙂

We had such a good time here, we loved how relaxed this place was. We chose the site that was the most set back from the rest and we really enjoyed how primitive it was. Caleb was really friendly and gave us so many trail options and showed us some awesome spots for sunset/sunrise views. This place really has everything you need and a little bit more for camping!

Beautiful location, nicely laid out sites, clean bathrooms, and quiet respectful folk. Deer Isle and the surrounding islands are so beautiful! We only stayed 2 nights and want to come back to explore more.

Caleb is an accommodating and wonderful host, and made us feel right at home. Both kids and adults give it five stars, and plan to come again!
